Fire Station No. 4

||||||||||||||||||||||
The workers at this building are Alexandria firefighters, and have been for decades, at this well kept station at the edge of Alexandria City Park at the intersection of Lee Street, Masonic Drive, and Fenner Street. Just down Lee Street, in the next block, was the famous Nehi Bottling Company. On any given night during the 1950s, my mother and father would take the family for a spin, and stop here, for recreation, to see what flavor they were bottling: grape, orange or strawberry. Yes, those WERE simpler times! |
