Neighborhood
Schools - OLPS

Education has been important in Alexandria through the years, and much of its success has been due to neighborhood schools. I have special memories of this one, Our Lady of Prompt Succor, where I spent eight years of learning. Sister Cordelia, Mrs. Knobloch and others took my learning seriously, as did my parents. I got there on my bicycle, quick, and safe. From Rosenthal to Rugg to Menard to Cabrini, the neighborhood schools worked, and worked well. The original OLPS church was located just north of the school, but was later replaced with the "new" Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, on Elliott Street. The photo below shows the church in March 1987.
