We can still smell that fresh Holsum Bread made at the Cotton Brothers Baking Company. We were a regular customer at the Gulf Oil Service Station on Bolton Avenue close to Sears, at J.C. Penneys, the Double-V Cafe, Noah's Potato Chip, Red River Candy, Rex Theater, Suburban Gardens Restaurant, Chenvert-Coty Insurance Agency, Hokus Pokus Liquor, and Wellans Department Store.

Signs are everywhere: they announce stores, businesses, give directions and information, and signs also tell stories about Alexandria and CenLA.

From Third Street out Lee Street, Masonic Drive and Rapides Avenue. Down Bolton Avenue and Texas Avenue, and all along MacArthur Drive, over the Red River to Pineville and Tioga, and around the South Traffic Circle, we see signs of the present, and the past.

Shown here are a few of our favorite signs from Alexandria. We'll be adding more, so please check back soon.
