Baton Rouge History
Mississippi River & Bridges

The Mississippi River has played a key role in the development of "Red Stick", or Baton Rouge as it is known today.

The two bridges across the Mississippi River likewise are of strategic importance to the development of Baton Rouge.

Both the Huey Long Bridge and the "new" I-10 bridge continue to serve Baton Rouge and all of South Louisiana as important elements in our transportation infrastructure.
