down the street from that old home, on the southern end of downtown,
was
the passenger terminal of the Kansas City Southern railroad. In the 1950s,
we experienced the KCS Southern Belle, nightly at eight, when my family
went riding. The thundering shiny, black engines pounded the earth and
thrilled our hearts as they made their way north to Shreveport and Kansas
City. I envied those patrons in the club car, and wondered where this
magnificent train was taking them, for their next stop in life! |
