The railroad station on Jackson Street downtown was the city's connection with the outside world, and served the Missouri Pacific, Texas Pacific and other lines as well. Although demolished for the I-49 corridor, its stone and brick edifice was saved and relocated to the Red River riverfront several blocks away (mouseover the station) as a focal point for the new urban transportation center.
