Lake Palestine Texas ... conveniently located in the rolling hills of East Texas just outside Tyler ... plentiful boating, fishing, skiing, resorts, camps and more! DeRidder is the parish seat of Beauregard Parish, located in west Louisiana next to the Texas border, and about 60 miles southwest of the Alexandria metro area. It is located between Lake Charles and Leesville on U.S. Highway 171.

Long a railroad town, the first train line to serve DeRidder came in 1902, the Pittsburgh & Gulf Railroad, later to become part of the the Kansas City Southern (KCS) Railroad. The town was incorporated in 1903.

The timber industry plays an important role in the economy of DeRidder.
