Journeys Back to the Simpler Times in Alexandria The Register of Retrospective Visitors The Alexandria Postcard Collection Features

Jonesboro is located in north Louisiana on US167 between Alexandria and Ruston, and north of Winnfield.

Just north of Jonesboro is the town of Hodge; the area is thus often referred to as "Jonesboro Hodge".

During our years at Louisiana Tech, we used to ride Salter Bus Lines from Alexandria to Ruston; Salter made a regular stop in Jonesboro at the bus station near the Courthouse. Salter also maintained its corporate offices in Jonesboro.

It is the home of the "Christmas Wonderland in the Pines" in December each year.

It is the parish seat of Jackson Parish and has about 4,000 residents.

Nearby towns include Hodge, North Hodge, Dodson, Goldonna, Tannehill, Quitman, and Sikes. Caney Creek Reservoir is located to the east of Jonesboro.

Shown below are some historic postcards from the Alexandria Postcard Collection.

Greetings from Winnfield, the home of three Louisiana governors!
