Journeys Back to the Simpler Times in Alexandria The Register of Retrospective Visitors The Alexandria Postcard Collection Features

Montgomery is located on the east side of the Red River, roughly between Alexandria and Natchitoches on U.S. Highway 71 in Grant Parish. We've driven through Montgomery numerous times over the decades on our trips from Alexandria to Shreveport.

Founded in 1712, the population today is about 1,000 residents. A former railroad depot serves as the community center in Montgomery Town Park. Nantachie Lake is located just southeast of Montgomery.

Nearby towns include Colfax, Natchez (LA), St. Maurice, Melrose, Grand Ecore, and Clarence.

Shown below is a historic postcard from the Alexandria Postcard Collection.
