Education has been important in Alexandria through the years, and much of its success has been due to neighborhood schools. I have special memories of this one, Our Lady of Prompt Succor, where I spent eight years of learning. Sister Cordelia, Mrs. Knobloch and others took my learning seriously, as did my parents. I got there on my bicycle, quick, and safe. From Rosenthal to Rugg to Menard to Cabrini, the neighborhood schools worked, and worked well.
