| Just south of downtown, this building sits as a reminder of another neighborhood being lost. A victim of I-49, and just general neglect. Near here, my brother worked as a bag-boy at the neighborhood A&P. Also, a radio and TV store held wonders in 1955, before we could afford a television. During rides at night to escape our un-air-conditioned house on Alma Street, my parents would take the kids here, and watch TV for a few minutes, on the set in the store window. One channel was plenty! | |||||||||||||||||||||||
