past, and the present...the old and the new...often they blur together,
and coexist around us. As the past starts to fade away, and I am confronted
by the stark reality of modern life, I like to pause, and look for signs,
to show me the way. I see these signs in Alexandria, and everywhere else
I travel today. As we pass this sign, Alan says "I go back now
and the stores are empty, except an old Coke sign dated 1950, boarded up
like
they never existed, or renovated and called historic districts...." |
